absolute newbies, so he also started a second group at YahooGroups called

The object is to keep the discussion to fundamentals

Homebrew Digest
Homebrew Digest http://hbd.org, which hosts
the DBD, is a very active homebrewing discussion digest, with less noise than
rec.crafts.brewing. While spirits and distillation are not normally a part
of hbd, home brewing is, of course, a first step in the production of
whiskies.
